Privacy Policy
Effective October 13, 2026.
Who we are
Auto Problems (auto-problems.com) is an independent website that turns public NHTSA vehicle data into model-year reliability guides. Questions about privacy: contact@auto-problems.com.
The short version
- You can read every page without an account. There are no sign-ups, comments, forms or newsletters.
- The site sets no cookies of its own and uses no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts.
- Search runs in your browser: it downloads a list of pages and filters it on your device. What you type isn't sent to us.
What is recorded when you visit
The site is a set of pre-built pages delivered by Cloudflare. We don't run a server or database that visitors connect to, and we don't keep visitor logs ourselves. Like any website host, Cloudflare receives technical information with each request (your IP address, the page requested, the time, your browser's user agent and the referring page) to deliver the page and protect the site from abuse. Cloudflare may show us aggregate traffic statistics, such as page views by country; these don't identify individual visitors.
Service providers
- Cloudflare hosts and delivers the site and provides its security. It processes your IP address and request details as described above, under the Cloudflare Privacy Policy. Its bot protection may set a short-lived security cookie (for example
__cf_bm) to tell people from automated traffic.
Links to other sites, such as nhtsa.gov, are governed by those sites' own policies.
If you email us
If you write to us, we use your email address and message only to reply and to act on your request (for example, a correction or a removal). We keep the correspondence only as long as needed for that, and we don't add you to any mailing list.
Owner complaints quoted on the site
Pages quote short excerpts from owner complaints that NHTSA publishes as public records. We leave out names, contact details, VINs and dealer names. If you believe an excerpt identifies you and want it removed, email contact@auto-problems.com with the page and the NHTSA complaint number shown under the quote.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data about you, or to object to its use. Because we collect so little, most requests concern quoted excerpts or emails you sent us; contact contact@auto-problems.com and we'll respond within the time your local law requires.
Children
The site is meant for adults researching vehicles and isn't directed at children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and its effective date.
